World Darts Championship betting tips: Ally Pally quarter-final picks for Thursday 1 January
The PDC World Darts Championship has reached the quarter-finals stage and the two pre-tournament market leaders remain in the competition. Luke Littler faces Krzysztof Ratajski, while Luke Humphries tackles Gian van Veen.
The Lukes are in the evening session, but first Ryan Searle and Jonny Clayton meet in the opening match of the day, before two-time world champion Gary Anderson takes on surprise quarter-finalist Justin Hood.

Standout Bet of the Day
Luke Humphries to beat Gian van Veen @ 8/13
The way Luke Humphries responded to losing the first set of his fourth-round encounter with Kevin Doets bodes extremely well for Cool Hand’s chances of regaining the World Championship title.
Doets was exceptional in the first set and Humphries could easily have got embroiled in a long match, but the 2024 world champion lived up to his nickname with a cool, calm, calculated performance from there, rattling off four set victories at rapid speed.
Humphries won the final four sets 3-1, 3-1, 3-0, 3-0, showing all his class, and his experience should count again when another Dutchman arrives at the oche on New Year’s Day.
Gian van Veen had never made it past the second round of the World Championship until this event. Van Veen’s power scoring should keep this match close initially, but Humphries is likely to show more comfort and poise on decisive doubles later in the contest.
Possible surprise
Jonny Clayton to beat Ryan Searle @ 11/10
The first match of New Year’s Day may see the only upset. Ryan Searle has won lots of plaudits in this World Championship and is the only player to have reached the quarter-finals without losing a set, but the fun may suddenly come to an abrupt halt for Heavy Metal.
Searle has taken advantage of some poor opponents in this championship – nobody has played well against him – and the Tiverton-born chucker is unlikely to enjoy the same generosity from Jonny Clayton.
The Ferret is a four-time major winner who typically shows great composure at the business end of tournaments. Searle is playing in his first World Championship quarter-final.
Stats tips to follow
Luke Littler to win 5-0 @ 6/4
An inspired Rob Cross and a hostile Alexandra Palace crowd meant Luke Littler dropped his first sets of the World Championship in the fourth round, but Nuke can be expected to enjoy a more comfortable match against Krzysztof Ratajski.
Littler averaged 107 in round three and 106 in round four, and Ratajski lacks the scoring power to live with that sort of level. Nuke should be fully focused throughout after the dramas against Cross and a ruthless whitewash against Ratajski could be the result. The crowd should not be so aggressive towards Littler with a Polish player up against him.
Daily treble
Gary Anderson to beat Justin Hood (4/9), Luke Littler to beat Krzysztof Ratajski (1/33), Luke Humphries to beat Gian van Veen (8/13)
Justin Hood’s fairytale run in this championship should be ended by two-time champion Gary Anderson, who remains a world-class operator. Anderson in a treble with the Lukes pays out at 11/8.
