World Darts Championship betting tips

Standout Bet of the Day

Luke Littler to win 4-0 @ 8/15

Punters who prefer juicier odds may have to use this bet as part of a multiple, perhaps with some football on a busy day of Premier League action, but Luke Littler should make short work of his third-round opponent.

Mensur Suljovic averaged just 81.95 in the last round, able to progress past Joe Cullen by upsetting the Englishman with a slow pace of play and some lavish mid-set celebrations. Do not expect Littler to fall into the same trap.

Littler is not only the best player in the world, he also has one of the best temperaments in sport, able to shrug aside any difficult situations or behaviour by his opponent. The Nuke will be fully prepared to handle Suljovic’s snail-like approach to the oche and will not be troubled by anything the Austrian does.

Littler has got to round three without dropping a set and will be keen to sustain that record for as long as possible. Even with his B-game, it would be a surprise should Littler have any problems eliminating Suljovic.

The timing of the match even helps Littler. While the teen terror will relish a late-night gig in front of well-oiled Ally Pally hordes, Suljovic is a 53-year-old who would prefer an earlier start time.

Possible surprise

Wesley Plaisier to beat Krzysztof Ratajski @ 6/5

Gerwyn Price was stunned by Wesley Plaisier in the last round and the Dutch giant can stay in the competition by beating Krzysztof Ratajski.

Plaisier destroyed Price, a former world champion, by a 3-0 scoreline and it is a surprise to see the man in orange rated as the outsider against Ratajski.

Plaiser is a 35-year-old improver riding the crest of a wave and he can boss the opening match of the day.

Stats tips

Stephen Bunting v James Hurrell over 5.5 sets @ 1/1

Stephen Bunting has been struggling physically and emotionally during the early stages of this tournament and it remains to be seen if he returns to Alexandra Palace in decent shape.

Any vulnerability from Bunting should mean his match against James Hurrell is a long one.

Hurrell averaged 92.83 in defeating Dirk van Duijvenbode in the last round and Hillbilly is growing in confidence. The match can go six sets or longer.

Daily treble

Wesley Plaisier to beat Krzysztof Ratajski (5/4), Andrew Gilding to beat Luke Woodhouse (8/11), Luke Littler to beat Mensur Suljovic (1/66) @ 14/5

A 29/10 Saturday treble can use Luke Littler as the anchor leg. Wesley Plaisier feels invincible at the moment and can boss Krzysztof Ratajski in the opening match of the day, while Andrew Gilding has thrown some high-class darts in the first two rounds and should prove too steady for Luke Woodhouse.

Littler to beat Mensur Suljovic seems a formality and can enhance the treble slightly at extremely short odds.
