3 things to watch for on World Cup 2026 Day 3

Here are three things to watch for and fun facts to amaze and entertain your friends with on Day 3 of the 2026 World Cup.
A Brazil vs. Morocco banger
In our mega World Cup 2026 preview, we named Brazil vs. Morocco the third-best game of the Group Stage. This pits Achraf Hakimi and Morocco, the fourth-place finisher at the 2022 World Cup, against Vinicius Jr. and the five-time World Cup-winning Brazil.
Questions abound as these two powerhouses get together. Can Morocco build on what it did four years ago, or was that just a flash in the pan? Will Carlo Ancelotti, who has won nearly everything there is to win in soccer, bring Brazil back to a place they haven’t been since 2002?
This match will not only go a long way to determine who comes out of Group C in first place, but also set the tone for the rest of the tournament for these two contenders.
Switzerland needs to take care of business against Qatar
Switzerland is a dark horse candidate to make some noise in the 2026 World Cup. The team is a mix of tough, heady veterans like Granit Xhaka, Manuel Akanji, and Ricardo Rodriguez, and intriguing youngsters like Dan Ndoye, Fabian Rieder, and Johan Manzambi, the last of whom is a 20-year-old who could have a breakout tournament.
Qatar is one of the weakest teams in the tournament, and the situation in the Middle East has done the squad no favors. If the Swiss hope to live up to or even exceed expectations, it will start by making light work of Qatar.
Scotland needs a strong star
The third game of the day should also be a walkover if things go to script. Scotland sends its best generation of players to a big-time tournament in decades, and it’s only side to a World Cup since 1998. With Napoli’s Scott McTominay leading the way, the Scots hope to get out of the Group Stage for the first time ever.
Manager Steve Clarke is a pragmatic coach who prefers conservatism to aggression. Against a far less talented team like Haiti, though, he will need to ratchet things up just a bit to make sure his team starts with three points.
