West Ham v Brentford prediction

Brentford make the trip across the capital city as favourites for victory at the London Stadium tonight as the bid to reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup for the first time in 37 years.

Keith Andrews’ side head into tonight’s bout with just one defeat from their last seven matches in all competitions, though have won just one of their last three following their goalless draw at Bournemouth in the Premier League on last Tuesday night.

The Bees were expected by may to have a difficult season this campaign after losing their manager, captain and their two best players in the summer, but currently find themselves flying high in seventh in the Premier League table and well in the hunt for a first ever European campaign.

The west London side are only four points off the top off the top five with just nine league games remaining, and currently occupy what we expect to be a Europa League spot, with each of the top eight seemingly likely to qualify for European competitions next season.

Brentford head across London tonight have won seven of their last nine matches away from home, including four of their last five.

Despite being underdogs for tonight’s fixture and still occupying a place in the Premier League’s relegation zone, West Ham will take an air of confidence with them into this evening’s derby, losing only one of their last six matches in all competitions.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side returned to winning ways in their last outing following a run of just one win in four, winning a huge game away at Fulham last Wednesday night which leaves them with only goal difference separating them from safety having been in the drop zone since early December.

The Hammers, three-times winners of the FA Cup, albeit not since 1980, will tonight be aiming to reach the last eight of the competition for the first time in a decade.

The east London side, having struggled at home for the majority of the campaign, now find themselves without defeat at the London Stadium in their last four games there.

Tonight’s final FA Cup fifth round tie sees two confident teams in good form go head to head, which suggests there may not be much to separate the two teams. This game could well go the distance, with a home win on penalties perhaps the best chance.

West Ham v Brentford betting tips

London derby to go the distance

West Ham have lost just one of their last six in all competitions, while Brentford are unbeaten in six of their last seven which suggests not much will split the teams ahead of their meeting tonight in which a place in the quarter finals of the FA Cup is on the line.

The Hammers also have a strong recent home record, and the same can be said of the Bees’ away form.

Thiago on target

Erling Haaland is the only Premier League player with more goals in all competitions this season than Igor Thiago, who is just one strike away from hitting 20 for the season, and has already scored at the London Stadium this season when he bagged the opener in a 2-0 win back in October.

Yellow for Yarmolyuk

No player on either team has received more yellow cards this season than Brentford central midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk who has been cautioned in three of his last four matches to take his tally up to eight for the campaign.
