Wednesday horse racing tips
Punchestown
- 3.40: Soir De Garde 6/1 each-way (1pt)
- 4.50: The Mourne Rambler 6/4 (1pt)
- 6.05: Gaelic Warrior 1/1 (1pt)
Soir De Garde
Carries the same weight as some unexposed younger horses which could definitely be to his advantage.
He himself is certainly not exposed having only raced three times over hurdles, two of those came in hurdle contests in Ireland this year, in March and April.
Placed second well behind El Fabiolo at Leopardstown before falling at Cork when going well enough falling at the last obstacle just three lengths behind the leader.
That was very encouraging as he was carrying much more than Ndaawi and Absurde who are rated 22 and 23lb above his own rating.
The Mourne Rambler
This five-year-old comfortably beat many of these reappearing rivals at Cheltenham 49 days ago and looks to build on that for trainer Noel Meade.
The next in the betting is as high as 6/1 in the betting so it shows how much this bumper winner is fancied to progress.
Gaelic Warrior
It takes a special horse to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup and then go and win the Punchestown Gold Cup but I think Gaelic Warrior is that talented.
The eight-year-old came so close in the King George VI Chase at Kempton before placing behind Fact To File.
But there was a strong suspicion from those runs that there was much more to come and he showed that by winning the Gold Cup by eight lengths.
Has a great record here that trumps both Fact To File and Inothewayurthinkin.
