[WATCH] 'Iska merese kya lena dena?' - Mohammad Nabi blasts reporter over Mustafizur IPL snub question
Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammed Nabi did not hold back when a reporter tried to drag him into the ongoing Mustafizur-KKR IPL controversy during a post-match press conference in the Bangladesh Premier League(BPL).
The incident happened after the Noakhali Express’ BPL clash with the Dhaka Capitals, where Nabi was speaking to the media. A Bangladesh reporter then asked him for his opinion on the ongoing controversy regarding Mustafizur and his release from the IPL ahead of the 2026 edition.
In response to the question, a clearly disappointed Nabi said that he had nothing to do with the situation. He acknowledged that Mustafizur is a good bowler, but stressed that the question was misplaced.
"Iska merese kya lena dena bhai. Mera Mustafizur se kya kaam hai? Politics me kya kaam hai mera? (What do I have to do with it? How am I related to Mustafizur? I don't have anything to do with politics)," Nabi responded.
"I know he is a good bowler, all these things. But the way you are questioning, it's not related to me," he concluded.
For the unversed, Mustafizur was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders from their IPL 2026 squad, following instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI). That has been a topic of discussion, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board even threatening to pull out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 if the ICC does not shift their matches outside India.
Nabi creates history, plays professional cricket with his son
History was made in the match between Noakhali Express and Dhaka Capitals, as Nabi and Eisakhil became the first father-son duo to play together in the same team. They even stitched a brief partnership while batting.
When asked about how it felt to play alongside his son, Nabi gave an emotional answer while praising his son’s innings.
"I am really happy to play with my son. I have been waiting for a long time to play together with him. I have prepared him as a professional cricketer. He performed very well on debut. We were in the same pitch together. I was telling him what was about to happen; what will the bowler do. Will he bowl fast or bowl a slower one. He was waiting for those balls, and he played really well,” said Nabi.
Interestingly, Hassan Eisakhil was named player of the match for his knock of 92 runs in 60 balls.
