Tyson Fury offered comeback fight with 6ft 6in American heavyweight

Dmitriy Salita has thrown Brandon Moore’s hat in the ring to face Tyson Fury when he launches his comeback later this year.

Fury hung up his gloves in January 2025 after suffering back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, but has since reversed his decision.

The plan is for ‘The Gypsy King’ to return in a low-risk tune-up fight in early 2026 before taking on a more significant challenge in the summer.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh had hoped to book the long-awaited all-British showdown between Fury and Anthony Joshua this year.

However, it remains to be seen whether AJ will continue fighting after his involvement in a tragic car crash in Nigeria that took the lives of two of his close friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

If Joshua does decide to step away from the sport, as his uncle told the Nigerian press last month, then Fury won’t be short of options for either of his 2026 fights.

A WBO heavyweight title clash with Fabio Wardley has been teased for the second half of the year, while there is a plethora of heavyweights queuing up to welcome Fury back to boxing in the first quarter of this year.

Among them is Salita Promotions’ fighter, Moore.

“Brandon Moore is the reigning USBA Heavyweight Champion and is coming off three straight victories over previously undefeated fighters,” Salita told Sky Sports.

“He’s a legitimate American heavyweight, 6’6” tall, 240 to 250lbs, big, strong and continuing to improve.

“From a physical standpoint, he reflects the modern heavyweight profile associated with Anthony Joshua while very much being his own fighter.

“This is someone who wants to test himself at the highest level, and facing Tyson Fury represents exactly that.”

Who is Brandon Moore?

Moore holds a record of 19 wins, with ten stoppages and one defeat.

The sole blemish came against American Olympian Richard Torrez Jr, who blasted Moore away inside five rounds in May 2024.

Since then, Moore has strung together a five-fight winning streak against untested domestic-level fighters.

Who is the frontrunner to face Tyson Fury next?

While Moore fits the profile of a ‘lighter touch’ to ease Fury back in, it seems that Russian slugger Arslanbek Makhmudov is leading the race to become his next opponent.

Discussing Fury’s next outing, his manager Spencer Brown told iFL TV: “Tyson will fight anybody, and he would fight the likes of Fabio Wardley.

“But you have to be realistic with Tyson; he’s been out for a year. He needs a fight to get his juices flowing first.

“I’d love to see him go to Manchester as his first fight back in a homecoming. There are a few fights after that.

“Makhmudov is one of the fights being talked about. There are a few different options.

“But Makhmudov is one of the front-runners, yes, he’s an option.”
