What did the PDC statement say?

In a statement posted on X, the PDC said: “Viktor Tingstrom and Danny van Trijp have withdrawn from the 2026 Ladbrokes UK Open due to personal reasons.

“Their opponents in their respective scheduled matches receive a Bye on Friday afternoon, per PDC Rule 3.7.”

Van Trijp made his UK Open debut in 2020 before going on to secure two PDC Challenge Tour titles.

He made his debut at the World Championships in 2023, getting the better of Steve Beaton in the first round before slipping to defeat to Jonny Clayton.

The Dutchman overcame Dean Finn to win MODUS Super Series Series 11 Week 12, last August, hitting a sensational nine-darter on his way to victory.

Meanwhile, Swedish star Tingstrom is an emerging star who made his debut on the European Tour at the 2024 German Darts Grand Prix.

Tingstrom won the WDF-ranked Finnish Masters in 2023 and took part in series five and six of the MODUS Super Series.

In January 2025, he became just the fourth Swede to win a PDC tour card at Q-School.

This year’s UK Open will feature 128 Tour Card holders and 32 players from the PDC Community Qualifiers and Rileys Amateur Qualifiers and top-ranked players from the 2025 Challenge Tour and Development Tour rankings.

There will be added incentive for those harboring ambitions of triumphing in Minehead with a record prize on offer of £750,000.

And that will see defending champions Luke Littler take to the stage as well as world No.2 Luke Humphries.

Joining the pair will be a host of former UK Open winners in Wade, Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson and Danny Noppert.

Nathan Aspinall, Dimitri Van den Bergh and Andrew Gilding will also enter the event at round four.

The quarter-final, semi-finals and final will be contested on a blockbuster Sunday of action.
