Tottenham loan star leaves teammate in disbelief after scoring absurd no-look goal

Luka Vuskovic scored a brilliant acrobatic goal in Hamburg’s derby victory over Werder Bremen.

The on-loan Tottenham Hotspur defender grabbed his side’s second as they claimed a 3-2 home win on Sunday.

It is also Vuskovic’s second since signing for the Bundesliga side in the summer.

The 18-year-old is on a season-long loan from Spurs after joining the Premier League side earlier this year.

A deal had been agreed with Hajduk Split for Vuskovic in 2023, but the teenager had to wait until he had turned 18 to join his new club.

He has wasted no time becoming a fan favourite in Germany, though, having made 13 appearances across all competitions.

Vuskovic’s heroics against Bremen in the Nordderby left his team-mates stunned as he put his side in front.

The Croatian backheeled Fabio Vieira’s free-kick into the bottom corner with his back to goal.

Vieira is also on loan at Hamburg from a fellow north London club, having arrived from Arsenal for the current campaign.

Vuskovic had been facing the opposite way as the ball came over his head before adjusting his body to divert it into the net.

His team-mates were in disbelief as they reacted to the acrobatic effort, with one placing his hands on his head in shock.

Vuskovic’s effort was cancelled out by Justin Njinmah just three minutes later.

However, Hamburg would grab an 84th minute winner through Yussuf Poulsen.

It secured back-to-back league wins for the home side, who sit 13th in the Bundesliga after 13 matches.

Who is Luka Vuskovic?

The Croatia international joined up with Spurs’ first-team squad for the first time in the summer after turning 18.

He had previously spent the last two seasons on loan from former club Split in Poland and Belgium with Radomiak and Westerlo, respectively.

Having arrived at Spurs, Vuskovic made an instant impression on his debut in pre-season.

The centre-back scored and provided an assist in a friendly victory over Reading within eight minutes of coming off the bench.

As well as his displays at club level, Vuskovic is already a senior international.

He made his debut for Croatia in June and currently has two caps to his name.
