Tottenham Hotspur launch surprise enquiry for £25million-rated West Ham star

Tottenham Hotspur have launched a surprise enquiry for West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville, talkSPORT understands.

The Dutch winger is valued at £25million, and he scored in the 2-1 win for West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend.

Spurs have already signed Conor Gallagher this month in a deal worth around £35million, and they could be set to continue the spending with a shock move for Summerville.

The Irons splashed out £25m, plus add-ons to secure the signature of the winger from Leeds United in the summer of 2024.

So West Ham would stand to not make a profit if Spurs were to match their valuation of Summerville.

In recent weeks, he has been West Ham’s best player with two goals and two assists in his last three games for the Irons.

He also appears to have a good relationship with Nuno Espirito Santo having celebrated his goal against Spurs with his manager.

Spurs’ forward options are limited with James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski all still injured.

Dominic Solanke has returned, while Mathys Tel has been left out of the Champions League squad, meaning he could seek a January loan move away.

Randal Kolo Muani has also struggled for form, and there are suggestions from France that he is also potentially looking to cut his loan short and return to Paris Saint-Germain.

This makes strengthening Tottenham’s attacking options look appealing to the Spurs board, no matter who the manager is.

What Spurs need?

In 70 Premier League games, Summerville has six goals and seven assists.

Now, it would be fair to say these aren’t the greatest numbers, and what is clear from seeing him game to game is that he is very inconsistent.

But Nuno does appear to be getting the best out of him, and he does believe in his ability.

Speaking about the winger in October, he said: “I think he can be really important.

“With the position that he occupies, he has to make a difference by his speed, by his talent.

“But I was really pleased with Summerville. Really pleased. And I believe that he can give us big, big help in the future. Starting at his former club, hopefully.”

The statistics for an attacking player aren’t great

Frank latest

talkSPORT understands that Frank will be in charge for Spurs’ game against Burnley.

This followed from one of Tottenham’s better performances of the season against Borussia Dortmund.

Spurs made it four wins from four at home in the Champions League with a 2-0 win over the German giants.

Ahead of the game, it appeared as if it could be Frank’s last.

But that has changed now, and the Dane will be at Turf Moor.

Beyond that, it’s unclear what will happen.

And either way, Summerville could end up being a Spurs player come the end of the transfer window.
