Tottenham Hotspur fans leave stadium half empty before second half after horror collapse

Talk about a Tottenham Hotspur capitulation.

Spurs were 1-0 up with five minutes to go of the first half of their crucial Premier League clash at home to Crystal Palace, but inexplicably found themselves 3-1 down at half time on a chastening night for them.

The home side got a let-off moments before Dominic Solanke put them ahead when a goal by Ismaila Sarr was chalked off by VAR for the most marginal offside.

Solanke’s opener had the total opposite of a calming effect as Palace fired three goals in quick succession.

The first came via the penalty spot through Sarr’s composed effort after the Senegal forward was yanked to the ground by Micky van de Ven – the Dutch defender being sent off to add insult to injury.

Jorgen Strand Larsen then put the away side in front when he poked the ball through Guglielmo Vicario’s legs from close range.

Sarr then got his second and Palace’s third as he placed the ball past Vicario after latching onto a superb chipped pass by Adam Wharton.

This sparked a sharp exit from a noticeable number of Spurs fans, with some leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium altogether before the referee even blew the whistle for half time.

The exodus continued throughout the interval, with the ground around half empty by the time the players re-emerged as Spurs limped to a 3-1 defeat.

The result sees Spurs go 11 without a win – an unwanted record for them in the Premier League era.

Spurs had already been plunged into further relegation danger with results elsewhere earlier this week.

West Ham’s win over Fulham on Wednesday cut the gap between the north London side and the bottom three to just a single point.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are also only a point behind Spurs after drawing with Manchester City.

It could also prove to be the end of Igor Tudor’s nightmare tenure as manager.

The Croatian has already tasted defeat against Arsenal and Fulham since replacing Thomas Frank in the dugout.

Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara has already seen enough from him as he took to social media during the match.

In a post on X, the talkSPORT host wrote: “Tudor needs to be sacked NOW.”

O’Hara then turned his attention to the owners in a follow-up post as the goals continued to flow for Palace.

He added: “The owners deserve this, disgrace of a season in every way.

“Disgusting performances, disgusting recruitment, disgusting running of a football club.

“January window we signed absolute garbage. This is the worst I’ve ever seen this football club.”

Spurs have not tasted relegation for 49 years having last played outside the top-flight during the 1977/78 season.

However, this term follows their lowest finish since that campaign after the club ended last season in 17th place.

Their points tally of 38 was also their lowest in the Premier League era.

With nine matches remaining of the current campaign, Spurs have just 29 points to their name.
