Igor Tudor was sacked earlier this week but it doesn’t necessarily mean Tottenham are out of the woods, even with an exceptional replacement.

Tudor was brought in to help bridge the gap between relegation and their poor form prior to his appointment.

Roberto De Zerbi has been selected as their answer, but can he make an immediate impact in creating the great escape for Spurs and avoid possibly the biggest relegation shocks ever in the Premier League?

But Tottenham are now winless in the league since their 1-0 away win against Crystal Palace way back in December 28.

There’s now no room for error as even in February relegation looked very unlikely, as the teams in the drop zone weren’t performing well enough to threaten their points.

West Ham have improved while Tottenham keep dropping points and are now just one point ahead of the Hammers with seven games to go.

They’ve won just three points from their last ten games and even a new manager bounce still might not be enough.

Spurs now need to at least match their points in their remaining games and it could come down to who they both face next.

Spurs next eight Premier League games

  • Sunderland vs Tottenham – April 12
  • Tottenham vs Brighton – 18 April
  • Wolves vs Tottenham – 25 April
  • Aston Villa vs Tottenham – 2 May
  • Tottenham vs Leeds United – 9 May
  • Chelsea vs Tottenham – 17 May
  • Tottenham vs Everton – 24 May

On the other hand, West Ham have: Wolves, Palace, Everton, Brentford, Arsenal, Newcastle and Leeds United for the final day of the league.

That looks like a relatively tough run-in with only three more home games of the seven, including away games at Chelsea and Aston Villa who are both aiming for top five finishes.

Tottenham have a poor record against their London rivals, losing in each of their last five, only winning once in their last 13 in all competitions.

Their best chance is arguably against Wolves away from home in late April, but even then the bottom of the table side have won twice in their last three in a massive turnaround of form.
