Terry Rozier facing more charges over alleged bribe in gambling scandal
It looks like NBA player Terry Rozier is in even more trouble with the gambling scandal he was involved in, as more charges have been brought up.
On Monday, Apr. 27, 2026, federal prosecutors claimed that they had evidence that Rozier “solicited and received a bribe during an alleged gambling scheme.” They are now planning to file additional charges against him “in the coming weeks” by mid-May, per ESPN. Rozier was alerted about the new charges “two hours” before Monday’s hearing, which was to address his motion to dismiss the initial charges against him.
The new charges in a potential superseding indictment would make the NBA the “victim of the alleged scheme.” Initially, Rozier was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. This began after an investigation of an NBA game he played in with the Charlotte Hornets during the 2022-23 season.
Rozier’s attorney, Jim Trusty, told ESPN, “Our motion to dismiss is based on the idea that they picked an invalid legal theory to prosecute Terry Rozier. We’ll see what they do to try to fix that in the superseding indictment, but I expect we’ll have problems with it.”
Terry Rozier’s part in the gambling scandal

Rozier and five other men were indicted on charges related to a gambling investigation of the NBA in October 2025. Allegedly, Rozier told his childhood friend, Deniro Laster, who is also a co-defendant in the trial, that he’d exit the Mar. 23, 2023, game with the Hornets early.
This information was later relayed to bettors. They then wagered on the unders on his stats, and they won on most of the bets. Rozier did leave the game after nine minutes. At that point, he only had five points, four rebounds, and two assists.
Rozier was recently waived by the Miami Heat.
The ex-Heat guard isn’t the only notable NBA figure involved in the scandal. Detroit Pistons legend and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was arrested for his role in the scandal and put on leave, while former player and assistant coach Damon Jones is a co-defendant as well. According to ESPN’s report, he is expected to plead guilty to the charges related to the case on Tuesday, Apr. 28.
