Taylor Swift’s Knicks fandom defended by 6-time NBA All-Star

Taylor Swift witnessed a comeback for the ages in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The multiple Grammy winner and actress Swift turned heads with her special New York Knicks shirt she proudly wore. However, Swift also drew in criticism from fans believing she hopped on the bandwagon suddenly during this series against the San Antonio Spurs.

Swift gained one defender, though, in the form of a six-time NBA All-Star. Let alone a past beloved member of the Knicks: Amar’e Stoudemire.

The former Phoenix Suns and Knicks star fiercely defended Swift from critics over her surprise appearance.

“She’s a Knicks fan,” Stoudemire told TMZ Sports. “Back when I played, we had a great friendship. She showed up to a few practices. We even had her dunk a basketball.”

Stoudemire adds he even sat down with Swift’s family and had a “great conversation” during her past appearances around the Knicks.

Fans will be shocked to hear that Stoudemire and Swift have been friends for years. But Swift isn’t new to attending Knicks games. Turns out the “dunking” video Stoudamire referenced resurfaced online which helped debunk Swift’s sudden fandom of NYK.

Swift joins the long list of A-list celebrities who have taken in Madison Square Garden. She sat alongside lifelong Knicks fan Mariska Hargitay in celebrating the epic comeback victory over the Spurs. Other A-listers from actor Ben Stiller, Timothee Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Chris Rock, plus longtime Knicks fan Spike Lee soaked in the stunning come-from-behind win.

The 43-year-old Stoudemire played for the Knicks from 2010 to 2015, during the beginning stages of Swift’s sudden stardom.
