Friday football tips

Bet of the Day – Wolves to beat Aston Villa @ 29/10

The balance of the season suggests that Wolves may struggle to repeat their recent good performances, but there is enough in the prices to chance the best version of Rob Edwards’ side against Villa.

The Molineux men were excellent when holding Premier League leaders Arsenal to a 2-2 draw last week and, while Wolves were beaten 1-0 at Crystal Palace on Sunday, Edwards’ men had seven shots on target and Ladislav Krejci’s red card took the game away from them.

Villa rescued a point with a last-gasp Tammy Abraham strike against Leeds at the weekend, but the zip has gone out of their season.

Unai Emery’s men have won only one of their last five games, they have scored only five goals on that run and the Villans can’t rely on good fortune anymore.

Special of the Day – Bristol City v Watford over 2.5 goals & both teams to score bet builder @ 11/10

Play-off rivals Bristol City and Watford meet at Ashton Gate on Friday night and the Championship clubs should serve up a closely-fought and entertaining contest.

The Robins picked up a good 2-1 at Blackburn on Tuesday night and Gerhard Struber’s men have seen four of their last five second-tier games go over 2.5 goals.

There have been 49 strikes in Bristol City’s 17 home Championship matches and last month’s FA Cup contest between these two sides at Ashton Gate ended in a 5-1 win for the Robins.

Watford have undergone yet another managerial change, but there does seem to be more attacking intent under gaffer Ed Still.

The Belgian boss started his reign with a 2-2 draw against Preston and the Hornets then beat Derby 2-0.

The Golden Boys were no match for Ipswich on Tuesday night, but the Suffolk side are a top team and Watford can be more competitive in this clash.

Playing over 2.5 goals and both teams to score in an 11/10 bet builder appeals.

Longshot of the Day – Parma to beat Cagliari, Augsburg to beat Cologne, Lens to beat Strasbourg treble @ 11/1

Parma were having a rough season, but three Serie A victories on the bounce has seen the Crusaders charge up the table.

Carlos Cuesta’s men beat high-flying AC Milan 1-0 last time out and Cagliari are likely to fall on Friday night.

Augsburg impressed in a 3-2 win at Wolfsburg last weekend and it’s now four wins in five Bundesliga games for Manuel Baum’s men and that’s a run which includes a 2-1 success over Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian boys can see off Cologne, who have won only two of their last 14 league games.

Lens continue to go stride-for-stride with PSG at the top of Ligue 1 and the Blood and Gold have won 14 of their previous 16 games.

Odsonne Edouard and Wesley Said continue to provide the goals in attack and Lens can win at Strasbourg.
