Sri Lanka vs England Second ODI LIVE: Ball-by-ball commentary, team news, scorecard and how to follow

England will look to avoid a series defeat against Sri Lanka in their second ODI this weekend, and it’s live on talkSPORT 2.

Harry Brook‘s side lost the opener in Colombo to make it just one win in six ODIs for England.

They should have won, but another batting collapse ensured that the visitors got off to the worst possible start.

It was another poor result for England, who are struggling in all cricket formats at the moment.

But there can be some encouragement from Joe Root and Ben Duckett, who both scored 60s.

However, Zak Crawley and Brook only managed to score six, and a wonderful 93 not out from Kusal Mendis held Sri Lanka’s innings together.

Sri Lanka vs England Second ODI: Team news

After claiming a great win, it would be a surprise if Sri Lanka make any changes.

Meanwhile, England decided not to use Brydon Carse, Luke Wood, Will Jacks or Tom Banton.

It remains to be seen if Brook, Brendon McCullum and the selectors decide to change the team or if they elect to keep the same XI.

But if there are changes, they are more likely to be to England’s bowling attack than their batting.

They fielded three all-rounders, so Carse or Wood might get the nod.

Sri Lanka vs England: What has been said?

Speaking after another defeat, Brook said Sri Lanka earned their win.

“Sri Lanka have just outperformed us there,” the skipper said.

“It [the toss] was very crucial at the end but Sri Lanka have played a very good game there and deserved to take the victory.

“I thought we bowled really well through the middle – the spinners bowled exceptionally well. Obviously they got hold of us in the last over but that’s part of white-ball cricket.

“They’re a very good side, they’ve got some extremely good spinners as well. They were getting enough out of the surface to be able to get us to miss the ball. They challenged us in lots of different departments and they had a good game.”
