In the wake of the San Antonio Spurs beating the OKC Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals (WCF), star forward Victor Wembanyama treated his team to a screening of the new horror movie Obession.

Michael C. Wright reports that Wemby treated the Spurs to a screening of Obsession as the team tried to “wind down from the emotional toll of Game 7.”

It’s unknown how this affected the team. While nerves must’ve been high after the win, they also might’ve been shot after watching the horror movie.

Iconic NYC theater sends Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama an “offer” after Obsession news

After the news of Wemby’s post-Game 7 treat went viral, Film at Lincoln Center, one of New York City’s top film organizations, sent him an “offer” he may not be able to refuse.

“We hereby offer Mr. Wembanyama tickets to our Sunday, June 7 screening of Bernardo Bertolucci’s stunning five-and-a-half hour epic 1900 when he is in the city later this week on a work-related trip…” Lincoln Center said, referencing the Spurs’ upcoming NBA Finals series against the hometown Knicks.

Of course, this screening of a five-and-a-half-hour drama, 1900, comes the day before the NBA Finals head to New York. Games 3 and 4 will be played at Madison Square Garden on Monday, June 8, and Wednesday, June 10, making it unlikely Wembanyama accepts the “offer.”

The movie he took the Spurs to see, Obsession, was released on May 15, 2026. It previously premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September.

While it was a relatively low-budget project, costing between $750,000 and $1 million to produce, it has grossed over $150 million at the box office. It has been a big win for Focus Features.

Obsession follows a man, Bear (Michael Johnston), who buys a supernatural toy that grants him a wish. Bear wishes for his friend, Nikki (Inde Navarrette), to fall in love with him. The wish is granted, but it comes with consequences.
