Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox ready to move on from epic NBA Finals Game 4 collapse

San Antonio Spurs star De’Aaron Fox made a blunder of a play going up for a layup attempt in the closing seconds of Game 4 of the NBA Finals, only for his shot to be blocked by OG Anunoby. It’s been one of the most talked-about moments in this year’s playoffs, and Fox is ready to move on from it.

While talking with media members on Friday, the 28-year-old guard informed everyone that he put his mistake in the rear-view mirror. Fox claimed there is nothing he can do to fix the error, and his mindset is focused on Game 5.

“I mean, it’s not like people have my phone number and call me. I don’t watch those shows. It doesn’t matter. It is what it is,” said Fox. “Can’t change it now… We’re trying to move on from that. Obviously, continue to learn from the mistakes that we made, and how we lost the lead, or how we finished the game poorly. We think about the next game.”

While the entire Spurs team is at fault for blowing a 29-point lead to lose Game 4 107-106 to the Knicks, De’Aaron Fox’s late-game mistake was a costly one. After making a brilliant steal on defense, the nine-year veteran had a chance to run out the clock as much as possible and draw a foul. Instead, he attempted a layup to try to put San Antonio up by three points, only for his shot to be blocked by OG Anunoby.

Fox played 37 minutes in Game 4, and he played rather consistently throughout the contest until near the end. The two-time All-Star finished the matchup with 18 points, five rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and one block, while shooting 37.5% from the floor and hitting four of his nine three-point attempts.
