Shedeur Sanders subtly mocks brother Shilo Sanders for not being able to play in NFL

Shedeur Sanders had a whirlwind 2025 with some ups and downs, but mainly positives.

For much of the lead up to the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur was a nailed-on first round pick, with his top competition being now Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward.

But instead of the first round he fell to the fifth, amidst wild conspiracy theories, including Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Eric Dickerson claiming teams were told not to draft the Texas-native.

Sanders was ultimately selected by the Cleveland Browns with pick 144, marking a stunning slide from his previously thought first-round potential.

Sanders began 2025 as the Browns third-string QB, behind Joe Flacco, who was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals mid-way through the season, and Dillon Gabriel.

An injury to Gabriel led to Sanders’ chance, leading the Browns in the last seven games of the season, finishing with three wins, 1400 yards and seven touchdown passes.

Both Shedeur and brother Shilo have often credited their father, Hall-of-Famer Deion Sanders for their style both on and off the field.

As they have done for the past two-years, the pair went to Paris Fashion Week, walking on the runway in 2024, as they aim to build their careers in modelling, like their mother Pilar Saunders.

In a self-made interview, Shedeur took the opportunity to show a bit of love to his brother, by having a jibe at his pro football career.

“Shilo, he has a better closet for sure. He has a little more free time,” Shedeur said aimed towards his brother.

“Yeah, I’ve got some more free time now, but we both have swag, you know what I am saying? We get it from Prime Time.” Shilo responded.

It was a slightly below the belt shot at his brother who has yet to find an NFL franchise to call home.

Shilo signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after going undrafted in the same draft Shedeur was selected.

However, he was waived as a part of the final roster cut after making multiple impressive appearances in preseason.

Despite a brief trial with the San Francisco 49ers in the midst of their defensive players dropping like flies, he was not part of any teams practise squad for the entirety of 2025.

While Shedeur showed flashes of promise in the final seven games of the season, general manager Andrew Barry refused to commit to him becoming the future starter.

“I think we saw a lot of progress with Shedeur this year. I think that’s both mentally, physically, playing the position,” Berry told reporters in a 5 January press conference.

“He’s still very much a work in progress like many rookie quarterbacks are and now that all being said, we’re going to do our work on the quarterback market.

“It’s too important of a position and it’s something that has to be solidified. I can’t sit here and tell you today, you know, whether the solution for or the starter in 2026 is internal or external.

“But it’s something that we’re going to work through over the next several weeks. And quite honestly, the new head coach will also have a lot of input into that as well.”

Cleveland have scheduled second interviews for their vacant head coach position with Los Angeles Rams passing coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Grant Udinski, and their own DC Jim Schwartz.
