Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s ‘redefining’ take on Suns’ Dillon Brooks after Thunder sweep

PHOENIX — After completing a 4-0 sweep in their best-of-7 series, Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gave Phoenix Suns guard Dillon Brooks his flowers. The Thunder’s 131-122 win over the Suns in Game 4 capped off Oklahoma City’s second consecutive first-round sweep.

After the win, Gilgeous-Alexander highlighted Brooks’ impact for the Suns this season, stating how rare it is to see a player make such significant strides in their ninth NBA season.

“It’s impressive to redefine yourself this late into a career — very impressive,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “Usually, you see young guys, like, for myself, it was like my second year, I got to redefine who I was as a basketball player. To do so this late is pretty impressive. It just goes to show the work he puts in. He’s a worker. He’s always in the gym.”

Gilgeous-Alexander’s 31 points and eight assists led the Thunder in Game 4. Dillon Brooks finished with 23 points on 10-for-19 shooting, including a pair of threes, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block. Devin Booker tallied a team-high 24 points.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has eyes on Rockets-Lakers series

Thunder All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been watching the Rockets-Lakers series, keeping tabs on his next opponent in the second round of the playoffs. Gilgeous-Alexander revealed his plans to continue to watch the best-of-7 series during his postgame media availability.

“I’ve already been watching all the Lakers and Houston series, so just continue to do so. Watch both teams and see their strengths and weaknesses,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “Both of them are obviously in the West [so] we’ve played them [both] a few times this year. We know what it will look like.”

The Lakers, with a 3-1 lead, will look to clinch their first-round series against the Rockets at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday.
