Real Madrid star stretchered off in neck brace after collision with teammate as match stopped

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio was stretchered off with a neck brace after a nasty collision with Eduardo Camavinga.

The Spanish centre-back jumped up for a header but then clashed into his teammate during their Champions League play-off tie.

Camavinga took a hit to the head but appeared to be okay after getting some treatment as he stayed on the field.

However, for Asencio, he looked to be in a much worse condition, dropping to the ground and clutching his chest.

He landed awkwardly after the collision and seemed to be coughing and breathing heavily in a lot of pain.

Asencio then received treatment from medical staff and the situation got more and more concerning as time passed.

The 23-year-old had medics holding his neck in and making sure it was safe, as he lay incredibly still on the pitch.

He would then have a neck brace put on by staff, signifying the major concern surrounding the injury.

And eventually, a stretcher was brought out to carry him away.

In the 77th minute, following a break of over five minutes, he was then taken away down the tunnel for further treatment.

Asencio’s Real Madrid teammates and Benfica players looked concerned as he exited the field ahead of the final stages.

Nine minutes were added on at the end of the game in total.
