Rangers’ Nathan Eovaldi continues domination of Yankees in electric 7-inning start

The New York Yankees are a familiar team for Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi. The righty played two seasons with the Yankees from 2015-2016, before joining the American League East rival Tampa Bay Rays in 2018. After a short-lived stint with the Rays, Eovaldi joined the hated Boston Red Sox, setting the stage for many duels with the Yankees.

Eovaldi had some great success against New York while with Boston, but nothing compares to how he has dominated the Bronx Bombers since joining the Rangers in 2023. After another shutout performance on Wednesday afternoon, Eovaldi now owns a 1.58 ERA over seven starts, according to MLB Stats via X, formerly Twitter.

The Rangers were facing a four-game losing streak entering the matchup with the Yankees, but Eovaldi stepped up to the plate and shut them down over seven quality innings. Eovaldi allowed no runs, four hits, and struck out seven to get the win.

Eovaldi is hoping to get back on track this season after a rotator cuff injury in 2025 cut his season short. The injury came at the worst possible time, as the righty was dealing with an 11-3 record and a 1.73 ERA. His start to the 2026 season wasn’t what he was looking for, but some time getting back in the swing of things was expected after the injury.

While Nathan Eovaldi’s numbers aren’t the greatest, the Rangers are still in the thick of the AL West race, and if they manage to get to the playoffs, we know that they’ll feel confident if the Yankees are a team they have to face.
