‘Pull some strings’ – Shilo Sanders prays brother Shedeur can get him on the Cleveland Browns amid career limbo
Shedeur Sanders is the Cleveland Browns’ QB1, and now older brother Shilo Sanders wants in to the team too.
Shilo Sanders was signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, but was cut ahead of the 53-man roster being finalized.

This came just hours after the safety was ejected from his final preseason game for throwing a punch at his opponent.
Had he not lashed out, there may have been a chance he would have been signed after impressing on his preseason debut, but for now at least, he has yet to achieve his dream of joining his brother in the NFL.
As he continues to search for an opportunity to play football and follow in the steps of both his younger brother Shedeur, and father NFL icon Deion Sanders, the 25-year-old has spent his time as a content creator/streamer.
His vlog-style videos have often gone viral, such as when he walked around Pittsburgh impersonating Shedeur, as well as a clip taken from a stream appearance in which he appeared to fire shots at Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel over his height.
But in a recently uploaded video in which Shilo visited his brother and mother in Cleveland for Thanksgiving, the former Colorado Buffaloes safety made several jests at his brother’s expense.
“Look at him,” Shilo said pointing the camera at Shedeur who had his iPad out with him at the table, appearing to be watching film. “Studying his plays and what not before his big game. What a good boy.
“Studying your plays so Coach Stefanski don’t get mad. ‘Stefanski, I even study my plays on Thanksgiving,'” he said as he imitated his brother.
Later, a clip showed the Sanders family gathered around the table praying ahead of their Thanksgiving meal, where Shilo said, “God is great. Thank you for letting Shedeur start finally. We appreciate it.
“Please help him this Sunday throw for 500 passing yards… Please allow Shedeur to do his best so he can pull some strings and get me on the Browns too. And please make No. 21 available somehow.”
Shedeur quickly interjected, “Bruh, that’s Denzel Ward. He’s the franchise player. 21 gone bro.”

Shilo gets his mother involved
But Shedeur wasn’t the only member of the Sanders family who was on the receiving end of Shilo’s jokes, as their mother also bore the brunt of being guilt-tripped by her son.
“Mother takes more care of Shedeur because he starts at QB for the Cleveland Browns and Shilo does not,” Shilo said as he wrote it down, guilt-tripping his mother after he didn’t have a drink.
“And Shilo is on no team. ‘I’m not gonna make his playdate good and I’m not gonna get him a drink.’ … She asked me if I want ice even though she do know I like ice because she raised me.
“She knows everything about Shedeur because he’s in the NFL.”
Sanders may now be a starting NFL quarterback for the Browns but his journey to get into that position was by no means straightforward.
After a standout college career in Boulder with father Deion as the head coach, the 23-year-old suffered an all-time draft slide out of the first-round, and was eventually taken in the fifth-round with the 144th overall pick.

He then started at fourth on the Browns depth chart, behind veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett – who were traded and cut, respectively – as well as behind Gabriel, with Stefanski later revealing that he had planned to redshirt Sanders’ rookie campaign.
However, these plans went awry after Gabriel suffered a concussion in the first half of Cleveland’s 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, meaning that Sanders was thrown in at the deep end with zero reps with the first team offense under his belt.
But with Gabriel not clearing concussion protocol in time for their road trip to the Las Vegas Raiders, Sanders was finally given his opportunity and he took advantage as he led the Browns to a 24-10 victory, whilst becoming the first quarterback in franchise history to win on their first start since their reactivation in 1999.
It was later announced that he would be the starter for the Browns’ clash against the San Francisco 49ers, which is expected to be a cold one with a dire forecast – that includes snow – projected.
Whether Sanders will be able to handle the weather remains to be seen, but if he is to keep the starting job, he will need to prove that Shedeur Time translates well in all conditions.
