PSG’s preparation for Wednesday night’s crunch clash was far from perfect after the reigning European champions fell to a 3-1 home defeat against Monaco, a result which cut their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table to just one point.

The defeat means Luis Enrique’s side have now won just one of their last three matches in all competitions, though one of those was a 2-2 with Monaco when the Parisians already led 3-2 from the first leg of their Champions League knockout phase play-off tie.

The French side have only two of their last seven matches in the Champions League though, including a defeat to Sporting Lisbon and being held to draws against the likes pf Athletic Bilbao, Newcastle and the aforementioned Monaco.

Wednesday’s clash will be the first time the two sides have met since the Club World Cup final in the summer, in which the Blues ended a four match winless run against the European champions to win 3-0.

Chelsea haven’t won at the Parc des Princes since a 3-0 win courtest of a Didier Drogba brace and a John Terry goal in the group stage of this competition back in 2004.
