Fulham’s clash with Liverpool has been delayed due to a medical emergency.

The match was due to kick-off at 3pm.

However, the emergency has delayed the start of the match at Craven Cottage by 15 minutes.

Announcement of the revised kick-off time was shared by Fulham on their social media at 2:48pm, 12 minutes before the match was due to commence.

Fulham went into Sunday’s clash hoping to extend their unbeaten stretch to a fifth-straight match.

The Cottagers have won three and drawn once in their last four, with the run including victories over West Ham United, Burnley and Nottingham Forest.

As for Liverpool, they too are in the midst of a seven-game stretch without defeat.

From those seven fixtures, the Reds have picked up four wins and three draws.

The uptick in results has lifted them into the top four, where they sit on 33 points.

A win over Fulham would keep them in fourth, but they’d only be six points behind second-placed Aston Villa who beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Saturday.

However, Arne Slot’s side will have to navigate Sunday’s fixture against Fulham without star forward Hugo Ekitike.

The Frenchman was not named in Liverpool’s starting line-up or on the bench, but it was not due to performance reasons.

Instead, Slot confirmed Ekitike would miss Sunday’s match due to a hamstring injury.

In Ekitike’s place, Cody Gakpo was selected to start up top for the Reds with Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai operating on the left and right wings respectively.

The loss of Ekitike comes as a blow for Liverpool given they have already lost record signing Alexander Isak to a broken leg.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Slot said: “Alexander Isak has been out for a few weeks now.

“That has meant that Hugo had to play more minutes than he did throughout the whole season.”

Slot added: “He picked up a slight hamstring injury because we had to play him more and more, and more minutes.

“For a player at his age, and is not used to the Premier League completely, that has been a bit too much.

“So, that’s why he will be out for today and hopefully be back for the Arsenal game. But that’s definitely not sure yet.”
