New Dolphins GM drops Kadyn Proctor bombshell after picking him 12th
The Miami Dolphins made some big investments during the 2026 NFL Draft. Miami made a whopping 13 selections in the draft, adding young talent to a roster that desperately needed an infusion of youth. The Dolphins just made a big announcement about where they’ll play their new first-round pick this fall.
Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan said on The Joe Rose Show that Kadyn Proctor will play at left guard during his rookie season, ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques. Current left guard Jonah Savaiinaea will move to right guard.
Sullivan also noted that the team will cross train Proctor at tackle and guard. The Dolphins will start Proctor out at left guard and then see how things progress.
“We feel like we not only plugged a hole, but did so with the best player available,” Sullivan said about drafting Proctor at 12th overall.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler explained that this is a big development considering Proctor projected as a left tackle in the NFL.
“This is interesting. Part of what helped Proctor’s draft stock is he’s got LT experience and has the feet for the position,” Fowler wrote. “But the Dolphins have emerging talent Patrick Paul at left tackle, and Proctor has the ability to move inside.”
Regardless, Miami’s offensive line suddenly looks a lot better Proctor added to the mix. The Dolphins should be able to reliably protect QB Malik Willis and punch open running lanes for De’Von Achane.
Ultimately, the Dolphins came out of the draft with a handful of rookies who could be foundational pieces moving forward. Proctor should be that guy on the o-line, regardless of what position he plays in the future.
