A massive fight hangs in the balance for Filip Hrgovic after his upcoming clash with Dave Allen.

Olympic bronze medallist Hrgovic will lock horns with Allen on May 16 at the Keepmoat Stadium in the Brit’s hometown of Doncaster.

On paper, a fight with Allen, who recently lost to Arslanbek Makhmudov, doesn’t appear to do much for Hrgovic’s career.

The Croatian defeated Joe Joyce and David Adeleye in his last two outings, both of whom are considered to be higher-calibre opponents than Allen.

However, Hrgovic claims he is ‘guaranteed’ a fight with either Moses Itauma, Agit Kabayel, Daniel Dubois or Fabio Wardley in victory.

“I get paid, and I move forward for my second fight in a new deal with Queensberry.

“I have in [my] contract a few names that must get delivered.

“Moses [Itauma], Agit [Kabayel], [Daniel] Dubois, [Fabio] Wardley.

“Four, five names that must be delivered. It’s guaranteed.

“We’ll see what happens with Wardley-Dubois, Moses and Agit.

“But we have an obligation that I must face one of these guys later in the year.”

Who is Hrgovic’s most likely option?

Hrgovic was stopped on cuts by Dubois in June 2024 and has been chomping at the bit to get his revenge ever since.

Dubois challenges for Fabio Wardley’s WBO heavyweight title on May 9 in Manchester.

And while Hrgovic will be hopeful he can face the winner, WBO president Gustavo Olivieri has recommended to the Championship Committee that No.1-ranked Itauma be designated as the body’s mandatory challenger.

Hrgovic was offered a fight with Itauma last year, but according to his promoter, Frank Warren, the 33-year-old priced himself out.

“He’s been offered that fight, Hrgovic,” Warren told talkSPORT.

“There’s two ways to say you don’t want the fight: you either say you don’t want the fight or you want a trillion pounds for it.”

Hrgovic vs Kabayel seems like the most realistic option out of the four due to the matchup’s pulling power in mainland Europe.
