MLB to investigate Dodgers doctor Neal ElAttrache for Conor McGregor PED use
With the Los Angeles Dodgers starting a series against the Chicago White Sox on Friday night, the team faces some interesting news regarding their head doctor, Neal ElAttrache. As the Dodgers look to capture another World Series championship, this news deals with their head doctor and popular professional fighter Conor McGregor.
According to The New York Times, the MLB will question ElAttrache “in wake of disclosure he supported Conor McGregor’s use of performance-enhancing drugs as he recovered from injury.” ElAttrache is also a team doctor for the Los Angeles Rams, as the NFL hasn’t made it known as of yet if they plan to follow in the MLB’s footsteps.
“Investigators for Major League Baseball in the coming weeks will question the Los Angeles Dodgers’ team doctor, Neal ElAttrache, after the disclosure that he supported a top Ultimate Fighting Championship star’s use of performance-enhancing drugs as he recovered from an injury, according to two people briefed on the matter,” Michael S. Schmidt wrote.

Looking more into ElAttrache and the investigation that the MLB wants to conduct, the purpose is to know why he supported the decision of McGregor “to use banned drugs” in his recovery. The conversation would lead to the MLB wanting to know if he ever did the same when it came to being a head doctor for the Dodgers.
“The investigators want to understand why Dr. ElAttrache backed the decision of the U.F.C. star, Conor McGregor, to use banned drugs — a move that distressed anti-doping officials who saw it as McGregor trying to exploit a loophole in the drug-testing system,” Schmidt wrote.
“Investigators also want to make sure that Dr. ElAttrache never supported baseball players’ use of banned drugs, according to the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they did not want to be identified discussing an ongoing matter,” Schmidt continued.
At any rate, it remains to be seen what the next steps in the investigation look like for the MLB, ElAttrache, and what it means for the Los Angeles baseball team.
