Mike Tyson insists Floyd Mayweather fight isn’t cancelled in update as he responds to health concerns

Mike Tyson is certain that the Floyd Mayweather exhibition will take place, and believes he is fantastic physical condition.

The American heavyweight legend stunningly announced he would face fellow boxing royalty Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition fight.

It was originally touted for spring of this year, but things quickly went quiet.

Tyson then suggested the bout was indeed set to take place, with venues in Africa being considered.

But 18-time kickboxing champion Mike Zambidis then stunningly appeared to announce he would be facing Mayweather on June 27 in Athens, Greece.

That appeared to be the damaging final nail in the coffin of the clash.

But a confident Tyson still thinks it will materialise, insisting it was ‘Money’ who made the first call.

He told TMZ: “Yeah, it’s happening. S***t, yeah, it’s happening!

“You think I’d give that up?! I was minding my business! He challenged me.

“We are going to party afterwards, baby! We’ll have a ball afterwards!”

Tyson’s physical concerns and Jake Paul defeat

Naturally there are fears now any time the veteran laces up his gloves again.

Tyson claimed he ‘nearly died’ while preparing for his professional comeback clash in 2024 with Jake Paul.

‘Iron Mike’ looked a complete shadow of himself during the clash, scarcely landing a punch, and putting a horrible defeat on his record.

He is now 59-years-old and in declining physical condition, but a bout with Mayweather under exhibition rules may not prove the biggest risk.

And the former Brooklyn brawler has suggested he is actually in fantastic shape right now.

He added: “I feel incredible.

“Listen I was an extra large [pulls at t-shirt] but we are a large now.”

Tyson did look in good shape and has clearly remained in light training.

But it is unclear if he can go through any rigours of a full training camp again to try and step back in the ring.

Given the enormous weight disparity, he would likely be comforted by knowing the bout won’t be sanctioned.

Tyson is also unlikely to be sanctioned to fight as a pro again after his worrying admissions.
