Our betting angle on a goal to be scored in the first half
Mexico and South Africa clash in a re-run of the 2010 World Cup opening fixture. Only this time it’s at the Azteca Stadium with the home support for the Mexicans due to be at an all-time high.
El Tri thrashed Serbia 5-1 in their final World Cup warm up match last week and will go into the opener brimming with confidence.
There were two goals in the first half of that one, including an equaliser Javier Aguirre’s side, before taking the game away from their opponents in the second half.
In fact there’s been eight first half goals scored in their last six matches, showing an ability to break the deadlock or bounce back from early disappointment.
South Africa won’t go down quietly though. This is the first tournament they’ve made since hosting in 2010.
It’s been a long 16 years and with new stars on show including Lyle Foster, Thapelo Maseko and Tshepang Moremi – they have threats of their own who could trouble the Mexico defence from the get go!
