Mets’ Francisco Lindor gets progress report from David Stearns, Carlos Mendoza
While the New York Mets have been led by Juan Soto and his supporting cast, the fanbase has been awaiting any injury updates regarding star Francisco Lindor and his calf injury. As the Mets’ struggles have been noticeable this season, the team could use Lindor as president of baseball operations David Stearns and manager Carlos Mendoza have important updates on the shortstop.
Speaking on Friday, Stearns would say that the expectation is that Lindor will play games for New York in the month of June, though an exact date is yet to be determined. He would also give insight into the approach of his recovery, wanting him as fast as possible, but not wanting to rush anything.
“Yeah, so I think from the larger picture, our expectation is he’s going to play games for us this month,” Stearns said, via SNY Mets. “I don’t know exactly when this month, but that means we’re getting closer, and we want to go as fast as possible, as smart as possible, and that’s a delicate line.”

Mets’ Carlos Mendoza on Francisco Lindor’s injury recovery
Lindor has been out for the Mets for a significant amount of time, having last played on April 22 in the 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. So far this season, he’s recorded a .226 batting average to go along with two home runs and five RBIs in 24 games, as Mendoza detailed the ‘controlled environments’ and simulations that Lindor is going through.
“So he started today some live at-bats; he already did that…We simulated two innings on defense where he was taking ground balls. He didn’t run the bases when he made contact, but then he went through the program, it’s kind of like more like a controled environment that we’re simulating game action, but you know we’re controlling it, so he’s going to do that again next week here, where instead of two in it is more like three, five, and then we’ll revisit at the end of next week to see what’s the next step.”
