Mavericks’ Klay Thompson lands on lengthy injury report for Christmas showdown vs. Warriors
The Dallas Mavericks will be facing the Golden State Warriors on Christmas, and they could be missing some players for the matchup. One of those players is Klay Thompson, who will face his former team after all the memories he built with them throughout most of his career. Thompson is listed on the injury report with left knee soreness, but luckily, he is probable to play.
Thompson missed the Mavericks’ last game against the Denver Nuggets, but they were still able to win due to big games from Anthony Davis and Cooper Flagg, as they both had 30-point games. The Mavericks have started to figure it out over the past few games, after being near the bottom of the league at the beginning of the season.
Thompson also had his struggles to start the season, and head coach Jason Kidd elected to bring him off the bench. He still has an off game here and there, but for the most part, it looks like Thompson still has the three-point shot that many have feared throughout his career.
There’s no doubt that he will want to be available to play against the Warriors because of the competitor he is, and it’s probably likewise for players such as Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
It was uncertain what direction the Mavericks were going to go in at one point during the season, as the trade rumors began to come out after they continued losing. Once they started to win more games, the rumors got quiet, and it looks like they may stand pat.
Kyrie Irving has yet to return from injury this season, and they don’t know what the team looks like when it’s fully healthy. If they can keep winning for the next month or so, they may be able to escape without any major trades to the team.
