Martin Odegaard immediately hides from police after accidentally hitting officer during parade

Martin Odegaard nearly found himself in trouble with the police at Arsenal’s celebratory parade on Sunday.

Despite suffering Champions League heartbreak, the Gunners squad – and their fans – were still in party mood after ending their 22-year wait for Premier League glory.

Gunners captain Odegaard was in food form, but was left red-faced and hiding at one point.

He headed a football into the crowd, which hit a policeman walking alongside the bus on the head – taking the officer by surprise.

And he wanted nothing to do with it as a smiling Odegaard immediately ducked out of view in shock and fear, before getting back to his feet a few seconds later.

But despite the officer immediately putting his hand to his head, his actions wouldn’t have got him in any trouble.

The police officer was totally fine from the incident in a day that saw well over a million people turn up to celebrate Arsenal’s first top-flight title since the Invincibles in 2004.

A few buses carrying all members of both the men’s and women’s teams went through the streets of north London and were greeted by their adoring fans.

The Premier League trophy was with them the whole time, and despite losing the Champions League final on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain the night before, the vibes were still high.

This Odegaard moment was just one of several humorous incidents to occur during the parade.

Others included Declan Rice rapping and Ben White asking Piero Hincapie to show his bum again after he accidentally flashed everyone during the 1-0 win over Burnley.

Meanwhile White also tossed Odegaard and Viktor Gyokeres’ sunglasses into the crowd.

Long time coming

Arsenal may not have scooped a first Champions League crown in their history, but it was still a day of celebration.

After three consecutive second-placed finishes, Mikel Arteta‘s side finally did it.

And ahead of the parade and after their European Cup heartache, Odegaard wanted to remind people just how good their season had been.

He said: “It’s painful at the moment, but when you look at the bigger picture, we’ve had an incredible season.

“We won the league for the first time in 22 years, and of course, being this close today as well.”

He added: “We have to celebrate the title with our supporters – they deserve that.

“I think we deserve that. We’ve done something incredible together and of course, it would have been even better with the double.

“But still, it’s an incredible achievement and we’re looking forward to seeing all our supporters tomorrow.

“We’ve done some incredible things and we had a great run in the Champions League as well.

“We just have to use the feeling that we have now and also the positive feelings we have from this season to reflect on all of it, and make sure we come back even stronger in the next season.

“There are lots of good things to take and some things for sure in Europe as well.”

Despite the feelgood factor from the parade, the police have confirmed that 24 people have been arrested so far from the parade, with there being a total of six stabbings.
