It’s very possible that Man City could go into Christmas Day top of the table.

They’re just two points behind Arsenal at the moment and a win would put them ahead by a point before the Gunners face Everton in the evening at 8pm.

Should Arsenal lose City will have the advantage for the first time this season and the first time since, near the start of the 2024/25 season and very briefly after the first matchday of this season.

They take on a West Ham side that sit right in the relegation zone, a stark difference on the two team’s outlooks for the season ahead.

Haaland ruthless against Hammers

It seems an easy bet to side with Erling Haaland with the form he’s in this season.

But with that and the fact he’s got nine goals against the Hammers in his career, it’s an even easier bet.

In fact last season he scored five against them across the two Premier League games, one with a hattrick at the London Stadium and a brace in this fixture last year.

There’s been just one game in the six appearances where he failed to score, but more often than not bags at least a brace.

City dominate

City have not been like themselves for quite some time now.

But that’s not to say they don’t dominate games like they used to.

They certainly still have that and this season there have been a few games where it looks like they could be the ones to follow in to make a challenge on Arsenal.

Man City have gone on a great run too recently, starting with a 3-2 win against Leeds and then a 5-4 victory over Fulham, which followed a couple of losses.

So although it was only by a goal, while conceding a few too many they still got the result needed.

That then gave them momentum, winning the next four on the bounce as well.

Keeping clean sheets against Sunderland, Palace and Brentford in the Premier league and EFL Cup quarter-finals.

Their biggest win was coming from 1-0 down at the Bernabeu to beat Real Madrid 2-1 and really look like vying for the title with this new found confidence and cohesion.
