Luke Littler headbutts wall celebrating incredible World Cup of Darts comeback win

Luke Littler celebrated England’s fightback in the World Cup of Darts by headbutting a wall.

Littler and Luke Humphries were 4-0 down to Wales in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

But the two world champions came back to win 8-7 in a deciding leg.

That takes them into the semi-finals, and the Nuke immediately ran over to some advertising boards and laid the nut in.

In leg 13, he also hit a 170 finish and celebrated by reeling in the big fish.

After the contest, he said: “I always say it, on a 170, I try to float my darts. Try to get them on that treble.

“Throughout the game, me and Luke were so close to the trebles, the amount of 60s and 58s we hit.

“The 170, I let a bit out there. Jonny and Nick held and we went to a last-leg. Oh, I was feeling the pressure there, big time.

“We know now if it is a last-leg or 4-0 down, we have to work. That is what we did. Once we got into that lead, we both found it. We battled there.”

Humphries added: “That was a slobberknocker of a game. Jonny was bounding that treble every single throw and putting us under pressure.

“When we went off to the break, Luke and I said we were playing alright but it’s our doubles.

“If we get them going, then we have a good chance. We went on a good spell after the break.

“My God, that 170. What was 170 that was. When you are in those moments, you feel the pressure, you feel the nerves. You saw it at the end.

“Once we got going, I felt we found that rhythm, found that bond and I think that is the great game that will bring us together. We will look forward to tonight.

“We know that when we are under pressure, we can perform at the highest level and that will stand us in good stead.”

With England looking to be heading out to Jonny Clayton and Nick Kenny, the German fans in the crowd started to taunt Littler and Humphries.

They were singing ‘England’s going home’, in homage to Frank Skinner, David Baddiel and The Lightning Seeds’ World Cup tune.

But it was the English duo who had the last laugh, and they face Scotland next.

The Scots are represented by Cameron Menzies and Gary Anderson.

Story of the game

Kenny has replaced Clayton’s usual partner Gerwyn Price.

Price decided not to take part in this year’s edition of the World Cup of Darts.

But Clayton and Kenny got off to a flier.

They were inches away from making it 5-0, but Clayton’s dart at double top went just the wrong side of the wire.

But they still led 5-2 at the TV break.

Littler and Humphries refused to drop off and fought back to be 6-5 in the lead.

And in the decider, they held their nerve to win.
