And now the boyhood Manchester United fan has taken it upon himself to try and entice in-demand Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo to Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old has netted six times this season while adding three assists across 11 Premier League matches.

Manchester United are among a host of clubs who were put on red alert earlier this month after learning of a £65million release clause inserted into the contract Semenyo signed in July.

Ruben Amorim’s side are set to be without Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo for up to four weeks over the Festive period due to their participation at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Littler, much like many fellow United fans, have pinpointed Semenyo as the man to help fill the void and boost United’s fortunes in the second half of the season.

How did Littler grab Semenyo’s attention?

The reigning world champion has been outspoken on United’s falling fortunes since his rise to superstardom and took it upon himself to share a Semenyo goals compilation to his Instagram story on Friday night.

He titled the video, “The solution to our AFCON worries?” before adding the caption: “Activate the release clause reds [wink emoji]. Gonna miss Amad and Mbeumo massively.”

And it didn’t take long for Littler to get the desired response.

The teenage star later posted a screenshot of Semenyo following him on Instagram.

Littler wrote: “Step one [tick emoji]. I’ve done my job now it’s down to you reds.”

If Littler is to get his way then Manchester United will have to beat off competition from rivals Liverpool who are considering an approach for Semenyo.

The Reds could swoop for the Bournemouth man as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Manchester City are also monitoring the Ghanaian and are firmly in the mix ahead of a move next summer.

But Littler will be hoping a new-found Instagram friendship might help towards a future arrival at Old Trafford.

‘The Nuke’ will need to quickly turn his attention back to his day job with the World Darts Championship fast approaching.

Littler claimed his maiden title last year beating Michael van Gerwen in the final at Alexandra Palace.

The 18-year-old is amongst the favourites to retain his title this time around with world No.2 Luke Humphries expected to be among the big challengers.

Littler is in blistering form at present having won the World Grand Prix, the Grand Slam of darts and the Player’s Championship finals.
