LIV Golf Singapore betting tips: 40/1 headline pick

The LIV Golf action heads to The Serapong at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore this week for the fourth event of the season, with Joaquin Niemann looking to kick-start his campaign with a successful title defence.

Chile star Niemann romped to a five-shot victory last year and that was part of an incredible season in which he also claimed titles in Adelaide, Mexico City, Virginia and the UK, but he has failed to replicate that form this year with his three LIV outings producing a best result of tied-12th.

It has been a different story for Jon Rahm, who ended a run of four runners-up finishes in a row when claiming the spoils in Hong Kong on Sunday and he is the firm 13/5 favourite to triumph in Singapore.

LIV Golf Singapore Tips

  • Branden Grace to win and each-way @ 40/1
  • Lucas Herbert to win and each-way @ 22/1
  • Talor Gooch to win and each-way @ 33/1

Grace to end trophy drought

Sentosa GC is a difficult test and you need to be able to scramble well in order to stand a chance of winning, so it makes sense to side with the player leading the scrambling statistics this season, Branden Grace.

The South African’s fantastic short game has helped him post two top-10 finishes, in Riyadh and Adelaide, while his greens in regulation ranking of tied-11th shows the irons are hot.

Grace is currently on a run of 19 consecutive under-par rounds – only Rahm has a bigger streak – and the 37-year-old looks to have the skillset required to land his first LIV title since Portland in 2022.

Herbert set for another strong showing

Australian Lucas Herbert has had a number of near-misses since joining the LIV circuit and a breakthrough on the Saudi-backed tour does not look to be far away.

The 30-year-old has started this year off positively, recording finishes of T9 (Riyadh), T6 (Adelaide) and T8 (Hong Kong), meaning he and Rahm are the only two players yet to finish outside of the top-10 places this season.

Ranked tied-20th in scrambling and tied-third in putting average, Herbert, who shared 14th position at Sentosa last year, has the short game to overcome this challenging layout.

Gooch to enjoy Sentosa return

American Talor Gooch has fond memories of Sentosa GC, having claimed the inaugural title in 2023 and then finished fourth on his title defence.

The 34-year-old is one of the most accurate off the tee, evidenced by his position of second in fairways found, while his rankings of fourth in scrambling and tied-sixth in putting average show how solid his short game is.

Having started the season off with three top-20 results, Gooch will be looking to click into gear and he may be able to do that at one of his favoured LIV courses.
