Lando Norris hints at future F1 exit for career in different sport

Lando Norris has suggested that his future could lie away from Formula One and in Formula E instead.

The 2025 Drivers’ Champion was in attendance at the E-Prix in Monaco on Sunday.

The British F1 star was invited to attend by Formula E star Jake Dennis and the Andretti team.

It wasn’t to be for Dennis as Oliver Rowland in the Nissan claimed victory.

But Formula E is something that the McLaren star is keen to try.

He said: “This is the first-ever [Formula E] race I’ve been to and I’m excited.

“There are a lot of guys that I know racing here and the racing’s always good to watch, always chaos, always carnage and always unpredictable – everything you want from racing.

“I grew up with a lot of these guys or I raced with them. The level of drivers you have here is top – it’s as good as you get.

“You’re watching a series that has top class athletes, some of the best in the world – it’s something I enjoy watching and being a part of.

“I was planning to do a bit of driving in a Formula E car at some point. I’ve spoken to Jake [Dennis] and a few of the other guys who’ve driven here.

“Not everything correlates between the two [Formula 1 and Formula E] but there are always things you can learn by speaking to and listening to drivers that are at the top of this category.”

Who else was there?

The world of Formula E is clearly something that attracts F1 drivers.

That is because Norris wasn’t the only star who was in attendance.

Carlos Sainz, Oliver Bearman and Christian Horner were all there as well.

And from the wider sporting world, we had appearances from Paul Radcliffe and Daley Thompson were also among those in Monaco for a star-studded race day.

How is Norris doing this season?

Norris’ defence of his Drivers’ world championship couldn’t have started much worse.

He is yet to win a race and has just one podium finish from a possible four, which he grabbed last time out in Miami.

The McLaren car doesn’t seem to be quite as good as last year, it’s still one of the better ones, but it is Mercedes who are the team to beat.

Norris was forced to retire in China and has two other fifth-place finishes.

Of course, the season has been disrupted by the Saudi Arabian and Bahrain Grand Prixs having to be cancelled.

Still, he will hope for better as the season progresses and picks up following a disrupted start.
