Knicks’ Jalen Brunson shares special moment with father Rick after NBA Finals win
Jalen Brunson probably does not have a vivid memory of his father playing in the NBA Finals 27 years ago. He was only three years old when Rick Brunson was with the New York Knicks, who battled the San Antonio Spurs for the title.
The elder Brunson did not win a ring, as the Knicks fell to the Spurs in five games.
On Saturday, he witnessed his son put New York on his back, giving the city its first championship since 1973.
The younger Brunson had a game-high 45 points, his highest in this year’s playoffs, to lead the Knicks past the Spurs, 94-90, in Game 5 at Frost Bank Center.
After the game, he shared a special moment with his dad, who is now an assistant coach on the Knicks.

As he has done throughout the series, the 29-year-old guard spearheaded a furious rally and completed a stunning come-from-behind victory.
He shot 14-of-27 from the field and also had three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
More details to come.
