The New York Knicks have a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, and they have OG Anuonby to thank for it. Anunoby came up with the two biggest plays of Game 4 to put the Knicks on the verge of winning the franchise’s first championship in over 50 years. So much so that Karl-Anthony Towns had an esteemed reference for his teammate ahead of Game 5.

“You can’t spell God without OG,” Towns quipped during a media availability session ahead of Game 5.

OG Anunoby’s worth to the Knicks was most evident in the closing seconds of Game 4. With the Knicks trailing by a single point and Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox seemingly with a breakaway layup, Anunoby sprinted ahead and chased Fox down to block the shot and give the Knicks a chance to for a game-winner.

And the on the ensuing possession, Anunoby jumped up and tipped in Jalen Brunson’s missed shot to put the Knicks ahead by one with a little over one second remaining. It’s probably safe to say that the Knicks don’t win Game 4 without Anunoby’s late game heroics on both ends of the court.

The former Indiana standout has been one of the Knicks’ most consistent players during the playoffs. During their postseason run, he’s been averaging a playoff career-best 20.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocked shots with splits of 57.8 percent shooting from the field, 50.6 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 86.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

With the Knicks looking to close out the series in Game 5, and bring home that elusive title, they’ll need continued strong production from Anunoby.
