Justin Jefferson cuts dejected figure and Minnesota fans think he wants out after rare post-game decision

Justin Jefferson was a non-factor as the Minnesota Vikings’ season hit a new low in a blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The superstar wideout cut a disconsolate figure as he stared into nothingness on the bench during the fourth quarter and his actions after the game have come under scrutiny.

Quarterback JJ McCarthy, who had endured a poor season, was ruled out of Week 13 with a concussion, handing a start to undrafted rookie Max Brosmer.

The first-year signal caller completed 19-of-30 passes for 126 yards and four interceptions.

Six of those attempts went to Jefferson, who managed just two catches for four yards — both season lows.

The Vikings have dropped four straight to leave their playoff hopes in tatters and their All-Pro wideout — arguably the best in the NFL — is struggling to crack 1,000 yards for the campaign.

Jefferson has fronted up during a run of six defeats in seven games, but left the locker room without speaking to the media.

“Justin Jefferson left the locker room after the Vikings loss today without talking to reporters,” The Athletic’s Alec Lewis wrote on X. “The Vikings say Justin Jefferson declined to speak. First time that’s happened since I arrived in 2022.”

The Vikings will hope to have McCarthy back for Sunday’s visit of the Washington Commanders, who almost upset the high-flying Denver Broncos in Week 13.

Who will be the Vikings QB in 2026?

Sunday’s loss will be even harder to stomach as it was Sam Darnold, who led the team to the playoffs after McCarthy’s rookie season was decimated by injury in 2024.

The Seahawks scooped up the former New York Jet on a three-year deal worth $100 million.

McCarthy has the rest of the season to show signs of improvement or he may face veteran competition in 2026.

There have been suggestions that Daniel Jones — currently impressing on a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts — could be brought back to the Twin Cities to vie for the No. 1 job.

Considering Jones’ value has potentially shot into the $200 million range, he would be expected to start the season under center unless the sophomore takes a massive leap forward.

Jefferson is one year into a $140 million contract that keeps him with the Vikings through 2028.

If the QB room isn’t sorted out, fans think he could request a trade.

“Need a new GM, trade Jefferson for everything he’s worth, rebuild,” wrote one.

“He’s done with the team. It’s in his body language,” added another.

Fans from 31 NFL teams would love to believe that Justin Jefferson isn’t available, writes Jamie Gordon.

There isn’t a roster he wouldn’t improve.

Sunday’s actions were probably just frustration boiling over in a humiliating loss.

Even if Jefferson does want to be traded, it is hard to see it happening.

The list of teams with enough cap space to accommodate his contract and draft capital to persuade the Vikings to sell is very short.

None of the teams on that list is going to be competitive any time soon, even with an all-world wideout.

Whoever is under center in Minnesota next season would love to be throwing to Jefferson.

But everybody has a price.
