The Liverpudlian is known for his elite grappling and submission record which makes him one of the most feared in the division on the ground.

Meanwhile his opponent carries formidable striking power and has been embroiled in some gruelling stand-up wars during his career.

Nonetheless the pair have promised to deliver a blockbuster for UFC fans and have vowed to stand up and trade at points in the clash.

It couldn’t be higher stakes with the winner of the bout set to be next in line to face full title holder Ilia Topuria.

And a simulation has already shown us exactly what could unfold on fight night.

Pimblett vs Gaethje simulation – how it played out

Pimblett began the fight in the ascendency and certainly opened the door to trading with Gaethje, as he has suggested he will when they meet.

The American was also rocked and cut by a booming kick, sending his legs wobbling but he was able to recover.

Gaethje also had significant swelling on his face as things turned into a gruelling war of attrition after just one stanza.

But the tides turned in the second with Pimblett badly cut to the face after some swift counter punching sent blood splattering.

He had two cuts to his mouth and a bad one above his nose, which saw blood trickling down on to the canvas.

Pimblett and Gaethje went at it in a bloody war just as promised

The octagon quickly became blood splattered as both went hammer and tong, although Gaethje had gained momentum.

As the third round approached, the pair were covered in each other’s blood, and Pimblett’s nose was severely busted.

As would happen in a real UFC fight, the doctor checked ‘The Baddy’ to see if he was able to continue and he was cleared.

But the writing was on the wall and ‘The Highlight’ went on the attack chasing down Pimblett.

And it was a right hook that crushed into Pimblett setting up the opening, before a neatly timed counter jab put the Briton on to the seat of his pants.

Gaethje sensed the end and went in for the kill battering his defenceless rival’s face until the referee stepped in.

It was perhaps a tad unrealistic with Pimblett taking a lot of punishment despite the state of his nose prior to the knockdown.

Nonetheless it was a stunning stoppage win and perhaps the best of the veteran’s career.

He will hope he can roll back the years and produce exactly this, to avoid being sent into potential retirement.
