Justin Fields decision made with Jets tipped to land $230m QB to save Aaron Glenn’s job
The New York Jets will have a new man under center in 2026.
According to a report from The Athletics’ Zack Rosenblatt, the Jets are expected to make a big decision this offseason.

“As for Justin Fields: He’ll be released at some point, though the Jets say they are in no rush to make that move,” Rosenblatt wrote.
Tyrod Taylor is open to returning if the Jets want him as a veteran backup again — and keep an eye on Andy Dalton for that backup role too.
“I predict that the Jets add two veterans and a rookie this offseason.”
It’s no surprise that the Jets are making this move.
All aspects of the New York roster massively underperformed last season, particularly Fields, whom they signed to a two-year, $40 million contract last offseason.
Fields completed just 62.7 percent of his passes in 2025, for an average QBR of 38.8.
His 6.2 yards per attempt marked a career low for a signal caller who also played with the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers after entering the league as a first-round pick.
Jets tipped to land Kyler Murray as Justin Fields replacement
According to NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry, the Jets have emerged as a potential landing spot for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
“(I) really wouldn’t be surprised to see him (Murray) on the Jets,” Berry said in a video posted to X on Saturday. “That’s one that I keep hearing a decent amount.”
Murray will be 29 years old at the start of the 2026 regular season, and he signed a five-year, $230 million extension with Arizona in 2022.

The seven-year veteran appeared in just five games with the Cardinals in 2025, posting 962 yards and six touchdowns before suffering a foot injury.
The Cardinals have been linked with drafting Carson Beck, which would edge Murray down the pecking order, with Jacoby Brissett performing well at the end of 2025.
Murray could be exactly what Aaron Glenn needs in New York following his disastrous first year at the helm.
The Jets finished 2026 with a 3-14 record, missing the playoffs for the 15th consecutive season.
There were calls for Glenn to be fired when the team was 1-7 at the trade deadline, but NFL Insider Ian Rapport confirmed he will be sticking around for year two, but with a very hot seat.
Jets expected to spend heavily on defensive upgrades
Another area of the Jets roster that massively under-performed was their defense.

They became the first team in NFL history not to record a defensive interception since tracking began in 1933.
They fired Steve Wilks in December and have hired Brian Duker, formerly of the Miami Dolphins, to work with Glenn on defense.
According to insider Tony Pauline, the Jets will be investing heavily in improving their defense in 2026.
“The New York Jets have met with just about every agent at the combine who will have a safety hit the free-agent market in a few weeks,” Pauline wrote.
“On Friday, sources told me that the team has been telling agents in many of those meetings that they will spend heavily on defense once the market opens.
“The team has openly admitted to people in closed-door meetings that they have a ton of holes on that side of the line of scrimmage that need to be addressed.

“While I’ve mentioned the safety position in several articles, sources tell me the team has said they will also look to sign multiple cornerbacks this offseason.”
