Jamie Vardy reaches stunning goal landmark – but he’s still dwarfed by Cristiano Ronaldo
Jamie Vardy has aged like a fine wine.
The 38-year-old got on the scoresheet for Cremonese during their 2-2 draw against Cagliari.

Vardy capped off a rapid counter-attack after Federico Bonazzoli picked up the ball on the left and drove towards goal.
Spotting Vardy had made a run to the back post, Bonazzoli fizzed the ball in his direction.
The Cagliari defender was unable to find his feet in time, allowing Vardy to control the ball with his right foot and fire home.
It put Cremonese two goals ahead on the night, but Davide Nicola’s side could not hold on for the win as Yael Trepy’s 88th-minute equaliser rescued a point for the visitors.
Vardy’s strike was his fifth of the season for Cremonese, who he joined in the summer after he brought down the curtain on his time at Leicester City.
But, more importantly, it was Vardy’s 150th goal in a top five European league.
The 38-year-old netted 145 times for the Foxes in the Premier League across 342 appearances in the English top flight.
His haul of 23 in the 2019/20 campaign, in which Leicester finished fifth, earned him his only Premier League golden boot.
Despite scoring 200 goals across all competitions for the Foxes, Vardy ended his career at the King Power Stadium in third on the club’s all-time goalscorer list.

But what makes Vardy’s feats all the more impressive is the fact 116 of his 150 goals have come after his 30th birthday, which was on January 11 in 2017.
It puts the veteran striker into rarefied air, although he’s still some way behind the ageless Cristiano Ronaldo.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has shattered countless records on his way to scoring 958 career goals across stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Sporting, Al Nassr and Portugal.
After turning 30, Ronaldo has netted a sensational 494 goals, 290 of which were netted during his time playing in a top five league.
The majority of those 290 came during Ronaldo’s time with Real Madrid, netting 162 times for Los Blancos.
Ronaldo then scored 101 in Serie A action for Juventus and 27 during his second stint with the Red Devils.

Given Ronaldo now plies his trade in the Saudi Pro League, he won’t be able to add to his 290 goals scored in a top five leagues.
However, he inched closer to his dream of scoring 1,000 career goals thanks to his late strike for Al Nassr during their 2-1 loss to Al Qadisiyah.
Ronaldo scored what proved to be a consolation with a penalty in the 81st minute.
His goal also meant the Portugal international continued a remarkable streak of scoring in every calendar year since 2002.
