Jalen Rose takes confusing championship shot at Knicks fans before Game 5
Fans of the New York Knicks can feel what’s at stake for Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The Knicks are one win away from ending their 53-year championship dry spell. But NBA legend Jalen Rose disrupted their championship visions in confusing fashion Saturday before facing the San Antonio Spurs.
The media personality and longtime NBA analyst posted this “championship” take ahead of the potential series clinching win.
“Dear Knicks fans (and those on the bandwagon), you get ONE Championship if you win not TEN). Note, a Champion happens every season in the NBA. Thank you, the rest of us,” Rose posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
Rose drew out critics for the confusing shot at the Knicks. Including a former New York athlete in Gary Sheffield Jr.
“Pointless discussion. Talking about this isn’t a dynasty before they ever win once is a sure-fire way to minimize the accomplishment. Not all conversation need to be had,” Sheffield posted in response to Rose.
Sheffield wasn’t through dunking on Rose.
“By the way, this is like your friend telling you to relax about your 700 credit score because it’s not 800. Have less of those people around you at all times and it is quite literally that deep,” Sheffield said.
Others piled on the former Knicks player from the 2006 season. Rose clearly attempted to disrupt a possible feel-good moment for long-suffering Knicks fans. The fanbase hasn’t celebrated an NBA title since 1973.
New York positioned itself for sealing the Larry O’Brien Trophy with its epic comeback from being down 29 points. The city is preparing for pandemonium if the Knicks close it out at Frost Bank Center.
