‘It wore off’- Beau Greaves shocks presenters as she reveals surprise training schedule

Beau Greaves has explained the reason behind her shock practice routine.

The darts star has enjoyed a stunning year on the oche across both the Women’s Series and PDC events.

As well as appearing at the Grand Slam of Darts, she reached the final of the PDC World Youth Championship.

Greaves beat world champion Luke Littler on her way to that final, where she was defeated by Gian van Veen.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old won 86 consecutive matches on the Women’s Series to end the season as champion.

She also finished second on the PDC Development Tour, securing a Tour Card for next year and a spot at the PDC World Darts Championship.

Ahead of her second appearance at Alexandra Palace, Beau ‘n’ Arrow has revealed she only trains for 30 minutes a day.

Her revelation stunned talkSPORT’s Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent, though, as she joined them on Drive.

Asked if it was true, Greaves explained: “Yeah around (30 minutes).

“The thing is that when I was younger I practiced a lot, but as I got older, it kind of wore off a little bit.”

In response, Goldstein and Bent admitted they practice for an hour each day, with the former needing 30 minutes just to feel ‘comfortable’.

Greaves continued: “It depends what you’re into. I just like to keep my arm loose, but I’ve been doing it quite a long time so don’t be too hard on yourself.”

Having played darts since the age of ten, she credits her start in the sport for keeping things simple with her practice.

The world number 120 added: “I threw naturally really straight. My throw was really smooth.

“It’s never really changed either so it just wasn’t complicated. It was really easy, simple and I’ve tried to keep that the whole way through.

“But as you get older you think a little bit more and the pressure, but it’s been fairly simple.”

Greaves is now looking ahead to the PDC World Darts Championship as she makes her second appearance at the event.

Her debut two years ago ended in the first round as she was beaten by William O’Connor.

However, Greaves performances this year have made her a dark horse for many.

The two-time Women’s World Matchplay winner has even been tipped for a place in next year’s Premier League.

She will face 22nd seed Daryl Gurney in the first round during the evening session on Friday, December 19.

The winner of that tie will take on either Callan Rydz or Patrik Kovacs in the second round later this month.
