IPL 2026: Video of the Day: Jason Holder's stunning catch causes controversy, Virat Kohli and RCB team left unhappy
There was a huge moment of controversy at the Narendra Modi Stadium following Jason Holder’s catch to dismiss Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar off the bowling of Arshad Khan during their 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday, April 30.
The right-handed batter pulled a shortish delivery to deep fine leg where Holder was stationed. The West Indies star dived to take an outstanding catch to send Patidar back to the pavilion. In doing so, he slid his hands with the ball touching the ground. This begged the question whether the tall all-rounder was in control of the ball or not whilst the ball was touching the ground.
The catch was deemed fair by the umpires, which did not go down well with the RCB camp. Virat Kohli, who was already dismissed beforehand, was seen arguing with the fourth umpire, with Patidar also waiting for the official verdict before leaving the field. Even after regaining control of his movement, Holder took the support of his hand in which he had the ball to get up and celebrate with the rest of his teammates.
In the end, Patidar was declared out with RCB’s score at 79 for the loss of three wickets. They would go on to have a bit of a collapse afterwards, falling to 126 for 8.
It was a huge wicket for the Gujarat Titans to send Patidar back without troubling the scoring much. The RCB captain has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 257 runs at a strike-rate of 200.78.
