‘I know the truth’ – Jude Bellingham gives reason for unusual drinking celebration

Jude Bellingham crafted the perfect response to a staggering claim made by a YouTuber about his celebration.

The England international completed Real Madrid’s 6-1 Champions League rout of Monaco on Tuesday when he coolly rounded goalkeeper Philipp Kohn to finish into an empty net in the 80th minute having been slipped in by Federico Valverde.

For Bellingham, his goal was the best possible way to bring the Madrid supporters back on side having been booed by them during the club’s 2-0 win over Levante last Saturday.

To go with the Madridistas’ frustrations, Spanish YouTuber AuronPlay boldly stated Bellingham ‘loves alcohol too much’ and had made a visit to ‘every nightclub in Spain’.

So when Bellingham scored Madrid’s sixth on Tuesday, he seized the opportunity to clap back at the unfounded claims by making a drinking gesture.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Bellingham explained his choice of celebration was nothing more than ‘a little joke’.

“It feels like anyone now can get a camera, say what they want and the whole world just believes them with no evidence,” Bellingham said.

“I feel there’s two ways you can take it. You can cry about it and moan, or you can just roll with it and enjoy it.

“[The celebration] was a bit of a joke back to the fans and to the people who say whatever they want.

“For me, I know the truth and I know what really goes on in my personal life.

“I know what I give to the game and what I try to give to the team.

“All the outside noise doesn’t really matter but it’s nice to have a little joke.”

Bellingham’s goal capped off a fine display from Los Blancos as they picked up their fifth win from seven games in the league phase of Europe’s premier club competition.

A first-half double from Kylian Mbappe against his former club put Madrid on their way to victory before the floodgates were well and truly burst open following the interval.

There were three goals in the space of 12 minutes courtesy of Franco Mastantuono, Vinicius Junior and an own goal from Thilo Kehrer which put Madrid 5-0 up.

Jordan Teze ensured Madrid’s defenders would not earn a clean sheet bonus, but Bellingham had the final say with his late strike.

The win was Madrid’s biggest under Alvaro Arbeloa, who was in charge of just his third match since taking over from Xabi Alonso for the remainder of the season.

Arbeloa endured a horror start to his managerial career when Madrid were dumped out of the Copa Del Rey with a 3-2 defeat to second division side Albacete.

A 2-0 win over Levante in LaLiga followed, but the six-goal mauling of Monaco could be the evidence needed to prove Arbeloa has Madrid back on track.

Los Blancos are next in action on Saturday as they travel to Villarreal.
