Hugo Ekitike can equal Liverpool record and inflict unwanted Premier League history on Wolves
Hugo Ekitike has been an excellent addition to the Liverpool attack, and his season could get even better against Wolves.
The £79million summer signing from Eintracht Frankfurt is enjoying a rich run of form during his debut campaign with the Reds.

Ekitike has netted five goals in his last three Premier League outings, with his most recent strike coming in their win at Tottenham Hotspur.
He is set to become the main man going forward for Arne Slot in the coming weeks after Alexander Isak suffered a broken leg.
Mohamed Salah is also on international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations and could be absent until the end of January.
Liverpool return to Anfield on Saturday to face a winless Wolves who have just two points from a possible 51 this season.
Should Ekitike find the back of the net against the relegation-bound visitors, he will equal a club record.
He would be the first Liverpool player other than Salah to score in four consecutive league matches since Sadio Mane in February 2019.
Ekitike has eight Premier League goals and could reach double digits against a Wolves side whose 37 goals conceded is this season’s most.
Woeful Wolves braced for record result
Although we have a few days remaining in 2025, Wolves already look set for Championship football next season.
They are rock-bottom of the Premier League table and sit 16 points adrift of safety with 17 matches played.
Vitor Pereira was sacked at the beginning of November and replaced by Rob Edwards, who still hasn’t got a win out of the side.

Wolves came close to picking up a third point of the campaign away to Arsenal, but conceded in stoppage time to lose 2-1.
With Liverpool on the horizon, anything but a win at the reigning champions will see them make unwanted Premier League history.
A draw or defeat would extend their winless start to the season to 18, the most ever in the league.
They are currently level on 17 with the 2020/21 Sheffield United side, who won at the 18th time of asking against Newcastle United.
Sheffield United were relegated later that season, so the signs only point to a Championship return for Wolves as it stands.
No team in the top four divisions of English football have even won less points from their opening 17 matches than Wolves’ two.

Furthermore, they are one of only four sides to reach double figures for consecutive defeats in the Premier League on ten.
Amid their dismal form, the club’s new interim executive chairman Nathan Shi called for patience in a message addressed to fans.
“Football is built on moments of resilience and response,” he added.
“Difficult periods do not define a club – how it reacts to them does.
“Wolves has always been a club that fights back against the odds, and I believe that spirit still runs strongly through this club, this city, and its supporters.”
After facing Liverpool, Wolves will end the year with a tough trip to Old Trafford against Manchester United.
