Hornets vs. Celtics prediction, odds, pick – 4/7/2026

We’re back with another prediction and pick for this upcoming tilt in the Eastern Conference and the conclusion of this three-game season series. The Charlotte Hornets (43-36) will take on the Boston Celtics (53-25), series tied 1-1. Check our NBA odds series for the Hornets-Celtics prediction and pick.

The Charlotte Hornets are currently eighth in the Eastern standings, tied with the Orlando Magic at ninth following a 122-108 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. They stand to finish as high as the five-seed if they can win-out and have some outcomes fall in their favor.

The Boston Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference, most recently beating the Toronto Raptors 115-101. They’ve won 10 of their last 12 games and will likely finish as the second seed in the NBA Playoffs with four favorable matchups remaining on their schedule.

Keys to Hornets vs. Celtics Matchup

Both of the first two meetings between these squads were decided by double-digit margins, Charlotte stealing a 118-89 win at Boston and the Celtics winning 114-99 in Charlotte most recently. The Hornets dealt the Celtics one of their worst home losses of the season and they’ve been particularly hot during this final stretch of the season. With the Atlanta Hawks just 1.5 games ahead and sitting in the five-spot, the Hornets could improve their standing if they’re able to notch these last few wins.

The Celtics, however, are falling into their own prime playoff form as they’ve fully integrated Jayson Tatum back into the lineup. He’s averaging a cool 21.5 PPG in 14 games played this season and notably scored 32 points just four games ago against this same Charlotte team. His MVP candidate teammate Jaylen Brown has scored 25+ points in his last nine-straight games, so expect the tandem to continue posting lopsided numbers as their team continues streaking.

The Hornets will look toward LaMelo Ball (19.8 PPG) and Kon Knueppel (18.7 PPG) for their balance scoring attack from deep. The Charlotte Hornets attempt the second-most three-pointers per game (43.1) behind only the Golden State Warriors, shooting the NBA’s third-best mark from deep at 38.1%. On the road, the Hornets have been able to carry their hot shooting over and can certainly pressure the Celtics early if they’re able to make their shots early.

Still, the defense of the Celtics has been a cornerstone of their success this season, ranking top-10 in blocks and fourth overall in net defensive rating (111.7). For a team that relies heavily on their three-point shot like the Hornets, the Celtics can certainly create issues with perimeter defenders like Payton Pritchard and Derrick White to force scoring droughts throughout the game.

Hornets vs. Celtics Prediction and Pick

While the Hornets were able to win the first matchup against the Celtics, this most recent meeting just three games ago was a better indicator of where these two teams currently stand. The Celtics seem to already be in peak playoff form while the Hornets are looking to notch some crucial wins to improve their final standing, potentially avoiding the play-in tournament if they can win-out their schedule.

However, it doesn’t seem likely that they’ll find a win against these Celtics as both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum can single-handedly lift this team behind the efforts of their defense. Unless the Hornets can shoot lights-out from three, Boston should be able to comfortably cover this spread at home thanks to a late-game run. Both previous meetings have been low-scoring in nature, so we’ll side with the under as trends continue through this one.

Final Hornets-Celtics Prediction & Pick: Boston Celtics -6.5 (-105); UNDER 219.5 (-110)
